One of my children gave me the idea to design this cushion. You simply get your child/grandchild or so on to choose the book they want reading and pop it in the pocket at the front. Then, when you are reading the story they can snuggle up with the cushion.x
These have cherry stones in instead of wheat. They don’t smell as funny as wheat bags. If you have an allergy to wheat then these are the thing for you. You heat them in the microwave, put them in the fridge, add oils to them for a nice relaxing smell and best of all you can wash these and not end up with a bag of porridge!!!!I make them with fleece so they are nice and snuggly.xx
A lovely lady gave me a fabulous idea today on a facebook site.
She has loads of her children’s clothes that she doesn’t want to throw away as they have memories with them. So, she thought about making bunting with them. I have told her to take all buttons etc off. I then said about any pockets that can be used. I thought making pocket bunting to store bits in. I thought it would be nice to put the buttons on the bunting too so they have them too. If you have any sheets or bigger clothes that can be cut up and made into bias binding.
The name Bixby’s is from my Grandad, who meant the world to me when I was little. He used to make up names for everyone, so I found out by my uncle and it’s something I do now. His name for me was Bubbinbixby and so I call the sewing and craft hobby Bixby’s, hence the website name. This is Bixby bear who I made a few years ago and was one of the many bears I have made.x
This is one of the things I came up with. It’s a memory cushion. I get the parents to draw round the child’s hand and either they can write their name or the child can. I then transfer the prints to fabric and I sew round them. I then design the bunting or flowers or birds etc. I have sold lots of these for grandparents and parents.x
